Re: Astral Projection/Out of Body Experiences

I recently made a video explaining a method that can be used during astral projection which I have personally used to experience what I believe are the states of Jhana. I believe it can be a good addition to the buddhist practice. https://youtu.be/kn9sVLgxtwY

Re: Astral Projection/Out of Body Experiences

The practice does seem to serve to provide helpful insights into the nature of the self and reality if you are able to progress to the level that you gain access to deeper levels of nonphysical reality, as opposed to the more superficial dimensions commonly experienced as a beginner. Hi Vince, Do t...

Re: Astral Projection/Out of Body Experiences

OBE is just lucid dream where external exnorvonment is your own room instead of some other environment like mars or moon. its all brain made stuff That's actually not true. An out of body experience is more of a general term, but when you project your consciousness from the body, it doesn't go to t...

Re: Astral Projection/Out of Body Experiences

I'm not exactly sure how to compare the states involved with astral projection to the jhanas. The process essentially involves keeping your mind awake as your body falls asleep and separating from the body. In terms of meditating while out of body, I believe some and sometimes even all of the jhanas...

Astral Projection/Out of Body Experiences

I've practiced Theravada Buddhism for years and I've also been having out of body experiences since I was a teenager. I'm curious on your opinions of astral projection and how it can influence one's practice of Buddhism. In my experience, meditation while in the out of body state in on a completely ...

Levitation during meditation

Is it possible to levitate while meditating? I recently watched a video of a guy levitate and it sparked my interest. Have you heard of or witnessed anything like this?

Re: Meditation Devices

I think in the long run it's a bad idea. The way I see it, meditation is just as much about developing particular skills as it is about producing particular states, and if you rely on a device to produce calmness then you aren't developing the actual skill of being able to let go of distraction and...

Meditation Devices

I'd like to hear opinions about the pros and cons of using technology to assist one's meditation practice. I am mainly referring to any external piece of technology that induces a meditative state, such as Hemi-Sync binaural beats, energy resonance devices, etc.

Re: Why one meal a day?

I believe a balanced approach to anything is important, which in this case means caring for both the body and the mind. I have no degrees but I am a certified personal trainer, so I have a bit of experience and knowledge in taking care of the body. Doing so requires regular exercise and healthy eati...

Re: Marriage as a meditation object?

Marriage is not making anybody suffer but mind - saying otherwise it's ignorance. Marriage if it's brings suffering it's showing you something, potining out like toot-ache "there is something to be done" in the sense of realization so if realization pain is gone, you are happy your wife i...

Re: Marriage as a meditation object?

I suppose that by the same token you can chop your arm off and contemplate the suffering it brings, or murder your family and contemplate the suffering that brings. I think that the average person experiences enough suffering as it to have plenty of opportunities to contemplate it without having to ...

Re: Is focusing on breath sensations not mindfulness of breathing?

It would make sense to me that a delusional temperament would be better off focusing on the breathing sensations in the body rather than the conceptualizations that the mind fabricates about the breath. After all, delusion deals entirely in concepts, so I'd think a delusional temperament would run t...

Buddhadasa Bhikkhu teaches that the 16 steps must be followed in order from the beginning during each sitting.
