Re: Will tomorrow be a better day then today if no why if yes why?

Example. If someone has a parent who is a drunk, a wife who cheats, kids who are unruly .. it has nothing to do with the sufferer in question. Parents = Past Kamma - (rebirth) Wife = Kamma of this life (you decided to get marry) Kids = Kamma of this life (you decided to have children) :console: You...

Re: Will tomorrow be a better day then today if no why if yes why?

???? :( Every thing is dependently originated. Better or worse is based/depend on your Kamma. Sarath, I am angry (for lack of a better word). I am also frustrated, dejected, and everything similar. Sorry that I am picking your words to kick up a ruckus. Is everything dependently originated? Yes. Is...

Nicolas wrote: Sat Nov 14, 2020 8:51 pm No_Mind, what do you mean by “redemption”?

Redemption in the eyes of others? Or redemption in the sense of not suffering negative consequences?
Latter of course. To be free of sin/unskillful acts in eyes of the Divine and/or Kammic ledger,

Re: How exactly was Angulimala redeemed?

He attained arhant by meditation amd hence avpided hell and rebirth Read carefully. I certainly know he became an arahant! "But what did he do, what steps did he actually take to be absolved of his unskillful acts. Does simply following 8FP absolve us, redeem us? We don't have access to the Buddha....

How exactly was Angulimala redeemed?

In a nutshell he was a bandit responsible for the death of innocents. But he turned to the Dhamma and was let go with a beating. Wikipedia states - "he is seen as the example par excellence of the redemptive power of the Buddha's teaching and the Buddha's skill as a teacher." https://en.wikipedia.or...

Re: The constant "I shouldn't be feeling this way" feeling

Sam and SteRo, My mind was feeling slightly constrained. Better now after meditation. Oddly enough now I can understand perfectly which thought is mental proliferation and which is actual, real, useful. And shut down mental proliferation within an hour. Couldn't do that before the pandemic. Hopefull...

The constant "I shouldn't be feeling this way" feeling

I did not know the appropriate section to write this .. so put it in wellness. I do not understand if it is the effect of solitary confinement for several months (due to corona there is no usual interaction with friends and family .. video calls can't substitute reality and my work is where the lapt...

A wise & good old lady Rajyogini who has been helping & blessing humanity for most of her 104 years: https://www.hindu-blog.com/2018/09/dadi-janki-quotes-collection-of-108.html For God's sake man this is a cult. Re: What does ego mean?

Why should an ego out of that snippet disappear? I meant spiritual path demands that our ego takes a back seat. Which of the egos mentioned in the snippet should take a backseat? This is such a basic question but really complicated to understand and answer. Most of the Dhamma is about taming the eg...

I understand about atma .. but didn't the great man decide to become the Buddha? Why was that not an act of ego?
