Hello I'm interested in information preferably in the sutras regarding multiple ordinations with different teachers.
Personally I am ordained Thai Forrest. I'd also like to be ordained in Myanmar. Thereby having a dual ordination. Is there any history or backing for this kind of thing. I'd also like to ordain in a mahayana Monastic order. What is there historically regarding this? Not looking for personal opinions...

Re: Mahanikaya vs Dhammayuttika
I'm a member of the Dhammayut. I'm originally from USA but moved to Thailand and ordained. If anyone has any questions about my experience I'll do my best to answer.
I've only been a monk for almost 5 months so my experience is limited.

Re: Possibility of ordination?
Hmm. Well I certainly don't agree with excluding intersex or trans people from ordaining.
Worst comes to worst you can certainly ordain in a Mahayana tradition if you have personal issues with the Pali Canon on ordaining as a trans person.
Complicated stuff.

Re: Possibility of ordination?
You can get an idea of the testicles issue from pgs. 861-862 of Ajahn Thanissaro's Buddhist Monastic Code: Disqualifications The factors that would disqualify an applicant from receiving ordination are of three sorts: those absolutely disqualifying him for life—even if he receives ordination, he do...

Re: Possibility of ordination?
Sadhu sadhu. Wonderful responses. Personally I would fully supposed the ordination. Testicles or not is of no concern to me. As far as being "valid" or not the only person who is the actual authority on that died thousands of years ago. A rule that basically states that people who don't have testicl...

Re: Possibility of ordination?
In Thailand there is a lot of support for the lgbtq community. There are many monks and novices who are trans/gay/taking hormones etc. It is no problem to be trans and ordained. The only issue you will run into is finding a suitable monastary that will accept you and support you in your aspirations ...

What did the Buddha say about ordaining children?
I understand that in modern times children monks are simply called novices but what did the Buddha say on this matter? If anything? I'm very interested to know as I've seen many many "novices" worked to the bone by senior monks and also I know the education they go through is also mainly Buddhism no...

Re: Holocaust denial, revisionism or agnosticism and monastic duties
Wasn't the Buddha hugely socially engaged? He constantly addressed even small issues in a community of thousands and set hard rules from simple cases and situations for everyone. Just from one case of something happening and it being an issue. I would say that looking at the Buddha's life he was hug...

Re: Bhikkhu, Bhikkhuni and food
Bhikkuni ordinations are as valid as any bhikku ordinations. Thinking differently is bordering on sexism.

Re: Bhikkhu, Bhikkhuni and food
I was travelling recently and early in the morning at a bus stop a nun appeared out of nowhere and offered me food.
I think it is okay.
The rule I believe is not to receive from women so in Thailand we use a cloth to receive it.

Re: What are the ways in which a monk can disrobe or be disrobed?
Yeah basically my situation is that my upachaya is not my teacher. Just faciliting all the formalities of me being a monk and is only doing so because I have a highly regarded monk friend who is a Pali scholar. It's not at all ideal... No connection with teacher. Not really anyone here who can speak...
