Re: Dhamma Books - where do you get yours?

I have found from my own readings, that the cheaper the book, the better the quality. The usual thinking in this day and age is that you get what you pay for, but with the Dhamma it is different. Some authors who charge hefty fees are making a living off the selling of Dhamma. Some will even gloss o...

Re: The symbolism of Wheels

Thanks for the great quotes from the Canon on wheels. Thus, here we are with the Dhamma WHEEL forum, turning the wheel some more, hopefully with some smooth rides.

Re: Retreats Food

Most retreats serve vegetarian foods. But I have been on a few that have served both vegetarian and non-vegetarian. But you can always specify in advance which one you want.

Re: Hello All

Hi Kourtney,

Welcome and do keep us updated on your progress toward ordination, if you decide to choose that path.

I just noticed that your screen name here is DhammaKid whereas it was DharmaKid at e-sangha. You changed it to the Pali term. Cool! :)

Re: Hi, all

Thanks. As a Mahayanist, I probably won't have a lot to say here. However, I strongly believe that the Mahayana teachings really only make sense within the context of the Theravada teachings, so I like to stay in touch with Theravada sources. KeithBC, It is great to see you here. Your posts over at...

Re: Would like to gift these gift subscriptions

One suggestion: Donate them to prisoners. Most Buddhist prisoners (or those interested in Buddhism) have few resources and love to receive any type of Buddhist material and voraciously go through anything you give them. They are also very appreciative of anything you give them. Here is a link where ...

Re: DhammaWiki, mostly read only

Thanks for all of the comments and suggestions! Yes, the Dhamma Wheel could be a great place to discuss any potential article that someone might want to add. A person could make a post and then we could all discuss it. And we are fortunate enough to already have several of the fully ordained Sangha ...

DhammaWiki, mostly read only

As some of you know, I have been busy with one of my new projects on a Theravada Buddhist encyclopedia: http://www.dhammawiki.com/ And now after having it for a few months, I see why some of the previous attempts did not work. Apparently there are some computer automatic bots that scroll through sit...

Re: Who's online?

It was an error in the code because when I was trying to fix the ONLINE image, I put another one on top of where it is forgetting to remove that code. It turned out to be a glitch with Internet Explorer. In Mozilla Firefox, it worked fine because the browswer removed the broken image. Mozilla Firefo...

Re: Who's online?

When I made the forum show people's avatars and user information on the left side, it ended up messing up the ONLINE icon. I took it out altogether. Then you asked for it, so I realized there was demand for it. Today I figured out how to put it back, this time making the ONLINE button going vertical...
