Hello:
Its because they take "deep meditation" as being inmersed in some relaxed semi-trance thing.
You dont need a machine to do that.
Much metta.

Re: Meditation without timers
I find its extremely easy to know how much time have passed during meditation, I'm impressed. I find that time really drags when things aren't going well, and time flies when they are. ;) Spiny Hello: Time perception goes a beyond that. If u know u have an appointment the next day in the morning, m...

Re: The thing about the breath
Hi Matheesha, a) "It looks like the Buddha didnt quite say not to relax the body (and later the mind) during anapanasati, when it comes to that point in the development. " Hey, could you explain this in more detail please?, sounds interesting. b) " Are you asking if 'since the breath isnt really the...

Re: The thing about the breath
Hello everyone: a) if you are not supposed to alterate the breath in any way, the step of "calming the bodily fabrication" being bodily fabrication "In-&-out breaths are bodily; these are things tied up with the body. That's why in-&-out breaths are bodily fabrications." how does it play?.. b) If th...

Re: are animals that kill reborn in hell?
Yeap,
I imagine there are several types of killing, and each one have they own merit or demerit:
if u kill to survive, if u kill to save lifes, if u kill to watch the world burn, if u kill because u enjoy the suffering of others,etc...
Each one makes a different life tendency.

Mindfulness-Focused in-of itself?
"In this way he remains focused internally on the body in & of itself,
or externally on the body in & of itself, or both internally & externally on the body in & of itself. "
What it means focus internally? focus externally? focus in & of itself?
Thanks!
