Re: Visiting Bangkok, Ordaining, Delving in the Dhamma - Adv

Hey Kevin,

Thank you for your advice. It seems Wat Bowon is very popular....

I am arriving at 2:30 AM, actually.

I've been to Bangkok once for about 3-4 days, right before my trip to Burma two years ago.

Empty Cloud: Chinese Zen Master

This is a couple of blurbs from Empty Cloud's autobiography, which can be read in full (or part) here here : 56th year: ...The river was rising and I wanted to cross it but the boatman asked me for six coins; as I was penniless, the boat left without me. Walking on, I suddenly slipped and fell into ...

Shabkar: Inspirational Tibetan Yogi

Hey guys, I just typed this out on another website, and I felt the urge to share the inspiration and joy: This is the "Conclusion of the Life-Story in Prose" in Shabkar's autobiography, The Life of Shabkar: The Autobiography of a Tibetan Yogin (All text in brackets are added research material or cla...

Visiting Bangkok, Ordaining, Delving in the Dhamma - Advice?

Hello Dhamma siblings! I am taking my next steps on an indefinite adventure to be fully enlightened. Plan: 1. Arrive in Bangkok on 11/27 very early in the morning; 2. Get my meditation visa in BKK (hopefully, they will grant me same-day or next-day visa); 3. Stay at Suan Mokkh (http://www.suanmokkh-...

Re: benefits of renunciation..

Hi Jungblood. It's wonderful to hear you are simplifying your life and letting go. It's so freeing. Giving up possessions makes us light. Less thoughts in the mind about I, me, and mine. Possessions are easy to give up. But sense desire is totally another story. Sweets and passion/pornography have b...

Re: Mara's sweet as sugar!

I know how you feel. I have been dealing with the same issue of sugar binges. :console: These binges happen especially after retreats or when I feel anxiety. Of course, simply put, it's the sensations of the sugar high, the short burst of energy, the fast-beating heart, and the feeling everything is...

Re: How to be in solitary for 30 days or longer

Thank you Sekha for all your kind advice and thoughts. First, I agree the simplicity of Goenkaji's teaching is wonderful. It's pure. I've sat several courses and spent significant time at a Dhamma Center as a long-term server. Still, I feel having to wait for 2 years to take a long retreat is too mu...

Re: Goenka Pagodas

Thank you both very much, Ben and bluppy. That list is a good start.

I know in US, there is CVC, Dhamma Dhara, Dhamma Siri. I'm most interested in Thailand right now.

Ignorance of the Three Characteristics and the Four Noble Truths. Any trace of doubt regarding these.

An Arahant does not create new karma as any trace of a person creating karma is eradicated. However, he/she still must live with the ripening of old karma.
