Re: Not 'man bashing' but legitimate protest.
Unfortunately, from my PoV it's mainly one-sided... the men i speak of specifically wouldn't know, understand or accept the Dhamma if it jumped out at them with big day-glo-orange foam rubber hands and whupped them over the head... so it's largely a mono-lateral effort.... It's an utterly demoralisi...

Re: Not 'man bashing' but legitimate protest.
Please, please believe me when i tell you that honestly and sincerely, i am mindful of that, and have so tried to practice it. Why is it then, that every time i feel i am beginning to conquer my emotional aversion to the male of the species - some dominating, arrogant, heavy-handed male chauvinist c...

Not 'man bashing' but legitimate protest.
a spin-off from a current thread elsewhere.... Have you thought some men may feel the same about women for good reason? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZGDTDawB4wE&feature=share it's a pertinent point you make, but this kind of brutality is a fairly recently-aired phenomenon. Rightly, it fills people...

Re: Whitney Houston dead
I had no idea this topic had been raised here, and what follows is actually something i posted elsewhere... And I'm completely with retro.... While I assure you I am practising compassion, I practise no more for her - or Amy Whitehouse - than I do for the homeless, freezing vagrant addicted to meths...

Re: Buddha nature
After practicing Zen for a couple of years I have started the practice of Vipassana and Samadha, as I prefer these meditations. For the most part I like therevada Buddhism. However I'm still heavily influenced by the Mahayana and I believe in Buddha nature. I've been told more than once that Buddha...

Re: Help! How to raise a child in an inter-faith marriage?
Father Christmas is easy to back up, with so much annual visual proof... they're everywhere...on TV, in films, in shopping malls.... and yet - how do we explain so many...? Fabricated stories come unstuck the more we try to pin them down.... And out of respect for those who follow a theis...

Re: Can killing be acceptable in Buddhism?
I'm sorry, really I am, but this does irritate me. These hypothetical scenarios are utterly pointless. What about the one where you are a transplant surgeon and just happen to be working as a doctor in a small town (maybe an island) with no other medical help. 4 people come in and each has one diff...

Re: Help! How to raise a child in an inter-faith marriage?
.....My 6 years old daughter is not old enough to deeply question what she is observing. as a 50+-year-old ex-Roman catholic, i can tell you this isn't true. I would be prepared to bet a pound to a pinch of salt that she has all manner of questions in that little head of hers... I did, as did my 2 ...

Kaspersky is fantastic, and was cited as being one of the few security programs that detected potential hackers to online banking accounts.... that's scary, how they get to you..... http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programmes/click_online/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; No it's not free, b...

Re: Can killing be acceptable in Buddhism?
Yes, I understand your frustration when certain scenarios will not likely be relevant to you. But for me, I am precisely the Ray Mears type of person. Ok. well then, fair enough, i can see the relevance, to a certain extent. But only to a certain extent. I study Bushcraft as I plan to live in remot...
