Month 6

Fifth month of daily sitting is over. Time for the monthly 'report card'. On 23 December I decided to change the height of the cushion I put under my ass. Until then I had been sitting on a firm cushion that boosted me about 3.5", and thus made sitting very easy. But I got to thinking that I wo...

Re: spiritual pride

There is nothing wrong with feeling a certain amount of pride and self-satisfaction. Reflecting on one's truthful achievements helps go through difficult phases, it helps to fight off negative emotions and gives hope when one is in the troughs. Re: Re:

manas,

You are correct. I did use some terms loosely.

Frankly I am so distant from attaining any Jhana that the issue of building any cravings towards it is not even an issue. That is a bridge I will cross if I ever get there.

I am also not speaking from personal experience, since I have not attained any of the Jhana(s). But can jhanas not also result in craving and therefore cause suffering? The first Jhana is nothing but perfect one pointed awareness. So if there is any craving for Jhana the meditator will fall out of J...

Is it like that? The way to nirvana, that you get much more times with only(just) little hapiness and just Little dissapointment more closer to nirvana one is? I have never heard or read anything to support this line of thinking. What I have heard and read is that one gets more and more equanimous ...
