Re: Mount the Manticore - Dopamine Detox

Good luck! :pig: I already do all those and highly recommend. Thanks :thanks: To do without "10 Best Crazy Cold Start Diesel Locomotive Engines" (and similar videos) will be my biggest challenge. But between jhana and engines .. it is jhana. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uz0wEvDrpFU :na...

Mount the Manticore - Dopamine Detox

The manticore is a mythical creature, half human, half lion and serpent. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manticore https://i.pinimg.com/originals/0d/65/82/0d6582a345f2e27e43b0734e891d281a.png There is a manticore sitting on top of our body - the brain. It is constantly fueled by dopmanine. I have come...

Re: How many calories a day for monks?

Monks are on a OMAD (one meal a day) diet. While on this regime they sometimes perform extremely strenuous work - building monasteries, walking long distances etc. They also study. How many calories a day do they consume? From YouTube videos it does not appear that they get more than 2 cups of glut...

Re: Buddhist Asks Question to Sadhguru | Vipassana Practitioner

Just for your information Sadhguru glorifies ignorance in case you dont know . I do not like Sadhguru a lot. But point is he is not meant for you and me and others here - people who have accepted the Dhamma, study it regularly, pursue it diligently. It's as if we are studying our Masters and some a...

It's the sixth month of the pandemic and there are members here who believe masks should not be mandated :? :namaste: (very confused namaste) No_Mind In some places there is no need for masks because there is no COVID in the community and the borders of the community are closed. Masks should not be...

Re: Bullworker, isometrics and blood pressure

I used Bullworker when I was in high school. Didn't notice much change. You need physical movement - with or without weight and cardio of some type. Further you should not trust what you find on YT or any social media especially about - weight loss, exercise schedules, makeup, beauty tips, dating ad...

Re: How many calories a day for monks?

Actually only a small percentage do OMAD. I believe most monks do two meals a day, one in the morning and one at around noon. However, even those that do OMAD, the meal is very large. Many monks are overweight and some are obese. (I think we have some previous topics about that). Lay people typical...

Re: Is Buddhism Left or Right leaning?

Suttacentral (early buddhist text) is Theravada yet belongs to left , however , dhammawheel is right (?) also Theravada , so , what then ? That's why in my post I differentiated between where I felt the doctrine landed and where adherents are in terms of political positions. They are not necessaril...

Re: Law of atraction and kamma

Namaste i want to know your opinion about the theory of the secret or the law of attraction, it seems that the real law of attraction is kamma, but in that theory people seems to have results. In theory what they say is that if you stop thinking bad things you wont attract bad things to yourself (w...

Re: Is Buddhism Left or Right leaning?

Depends how you are defining left and right. The key defining factor of Left is egalitarianism. They may not share other characteristics but this is universal among all branches of Leftist thoughts. All men are born equal/All men are equal. In Buddhism, All men are not born equal and All men are no...
