I am not able to find the name Siddhattha in the Mahapadanasutta or other texts from the Tipitaka. Please give a more detailed reference.

Re: Early Greco-Dhamma
Check the Greek philosopher Pyrrho. It seems he met Indian sages when he accompanied Alexander to the east, and these may well have been Buddhists. There are some books on the subject: Greek Buddha: Pyrrho's Encounter with Early Buddhism in Central Asia by Christopher I. Beckwith, and Pyrrhonism: Ho...

Re: The Cosmic Yo-Yo
The Cosmic Yo-Yo-therory is one of several cosmological theories. All versions of Big Bang, Cyclic Universe, Steady State and other cosmological theories have some unsolved problems, so nothing is sure yet.

Re: Beginning the Suttas.
"In the Words of the Buddha" has been recommended, and I second that. There is another very small collection of Sutta texts which contains all the essentials, and this can also be highly recommended: http://www.bps.lk/bookshop-search.php?c=00&t=10&p=1&l=1&s=2&i=the+word...

Re: Why Read the Suttas?
Why read the Suttas? Bhikkhu Pesala gave an excellent answer to this question: Since the Buddha is no longer alive, and Arahants are extremely rare and impossible to verify, it is more important now to read the texts than it ever was. There are many cults and heretical sects that teach and practice ...

Re: Easier translations of Visuddhimagga?
I read the English translation many years ago. I found it very tough going. Then I got hold of it in Pali, and I was stunned by the clearness and beauty of the text.
