I am not able to find the name Siddhattha in the Mahapadanasutta or other texts from the Tipitaka. Please give a more detailed reference.

There are some books on the subject: Greek Buddha: Pyrrho's Encounter with Early Buddhism in Central Asia by Christopher I. Beckwith, and Pyrrhonism: Ho...

As Buddhists, we try to be as kind as possible. But no matter how kind you are, German children will always be kinder.

Re: The Cosmic Yo-Yo

The Cosmic Yo-Yo-therory is one of several cosmological theories. All versions of Big Bang, Cyclic Universe, Steady State and other cosmological theories have some unsolved problems, so nothing is sure yet.

Re: Beginning the Suttas.

"In the Words of the Buddha" has been recommended, and I second that. There is another very small collection of Sutta texts which contains all the essentials, and this can also be highly recommended: http://www.bps.lk/bookshop-search.php?c=00&t=10&p=1&l=1&s=2&i=the+word...

Re: Easier translations of Visuddhimagga?

I read the English translation many years ago. I found it very tough going. Then I got hold of it in Pali, and I was stunned by the clearness and beauty of the text.
