There is that sphere
OK there is that sphere, the dhatu, that remains. However this sphere is unconditioned and nothing to do with the self. This unconditioned sphere is timeless unlike the self which arises and passes away.

Re: We have a problem with the term annihilation

Another famous Buddhist folk etymology. nis = out/away vāna = sewn The sense of vāna is playing on the two meanings of vāyati. https://www.wisdomlib.org/definition/vayati. It is quite possible that a Prākrit form of vināti merged with vāyati. https://www.wisdomlib.org/definition/vinati So it seems ...

such is their extreme view
What do you think of the Nibbana element without remainder (anupādisesanibbānadhātu). Nothing conditioned remains, which includes the self. Is that an extreme view?

Re: We have a problem with the term annihilation

The 5 aggregates are not self, but that doesn't mean one does not exist. To see this subtle discernment takes practice. Hint: there's things that exist aside from the 5 aggregate My take is that there is a nominal self that operates. However this self is subordinate to the 5 aggregates and operates...

Re: What experiences Nirvana?

In Buddhism consciousness only arises when external object comes into contact with the senses. If the consciousness rely on external objects and the senses, how can that be the self. :thanks: MN 148 paragraph 10  the sutta shows that the Buddha's idea of consciousness (viññāṇa) is differe...

Re: Idealism Revisited

Yes that’s true. Either way citta isn’t above, beyond or outside of the All/Totality/Whole. Agree. The All is about all that we can ever experience. There are things outside of the All that actually exist, objects that stimulate the senses but we can only know them through the All. The All includes...

Re: Idealism Revisited

So we have the Totality of vision and forms, mentality and dhammā. Based on these dualities we get viññāņa. Citta can, as far as I'm aware from a sutta only position, be read as non-disturbed viññāņa or it can simply mean "mind" as a whole. I actually think that citta from the sutta posit...

He was talking about not having a permanent non changing self, which is by far what you know your Soul not to be, practicing Right Anatta. There's nothing scary about the most beautiful features of life, but we have to respect and maintain their truths so that they are not misinterpreted. Saying th...

Where do you locate citta?

Citta is an activity within the body upon stimulation of the six sense bases.
