Re: What are your strategies to work with abandonment of craving? (Right effort)

There is form, feeling, perceptions, mental formations and consciousness Just deal with it on the feeling level. Cut off mental formations and perceptions by focusing on physical unpleasant feeling of pressure in the chest. Take this feeling in front of you (at this point your mental dukkha will dis...

As I heared from Sameneri Succita : Metta phrase is : may all beings be happy Karuna phrase is: may all beings be free from suffering Mudita phrase is: I forgot;) Upekkha phrase is: everyone is the owner of his kamma So I suggest you to contemplate this phrase and its meaning - everybody is the owne...

Re: Metta is just non-ill-will?

Yes I think so. Why? Because if you watch on metta feeling closely, event if its refined, warm, pleasant, smouth - it's still dukkha, it's still generate some feeling, some pressure, some information... And its hard to bear on the long term. You can not experiance metta for to long time, you will be...

Re: Can anger arise without self-views?

One will experiance anger and desire as unpleasant feeling of pressure in the chest zone. He will see it arising, remaining and ceasing without identifying with it, owning it, following it, being irritated by it, ignoring it. He will see : here is anger or desire unpleasant feeling, here is pure cit...

Re: Layman monastic life

Working with abandonment of sensual domain is always beneficial, even for lays. It's more difficult to "do" things rather "not to do". So if there is possibility to keep 8 precepts for extended period of time - do it. Ona day in one life one have to do it anyway... After that period it will be more ...

Omg^^
So funny story 😅🤧

Personally iam agree that Venerable Ajahn Brahm's and PaAuk jhanas are actualy arupa jhanas. But who knows? The most important is wisdom, if one can generate wisdom and directly seeing 5 khandhas as anicca dukkha anatta then its enought to get Fruits... imho

Re: Bh. Nyanamoli on 1st jhana, cessation of speech and rebirth

If i understand well, Venerable Ajahn say that while you experiancing speach as anatta, as not me, not mine, not my self, as outside of "you", as external phenomena - is the first jhana. In other words watch carefully while you are speaking to someone, while you are speaking - do you know what will...

Re: Heratic teaching of Ajahn Sumedho?

Nibbana is the extinguishment of greed, hatred and delusion (of self identification, owning). Luang Por Sumedho speak about 3th Noble Truth. To understand what he say we need to understand that: Silence is unborn, without silence sound can not manifest itself, silence do not pertain to a certain sou...

Re: Is losing the fear of death, Nibbana?

Indeed, absense of fear is a great release of the heart. Unshakable peace of mind. Avertion and desires are born from fear, fear is born from self identification with phenomenas, fear is born from self, self is born from ignorance. When one's mind sees sense information as just sense information, ob...

Re: The constant "I shouldn't be feeling this way" feeling

Dear NoMind, I think the problem here is too hight level expectations for oneself, we need to be humble students and know our limits. Joy is ok, its factor of awakening. Joy is a feeling of intense lightness of mind, while mind frees from attachments and burdens - it feels lightness and joy. What is...

Re: Right Speech

If it makes you suffer with greed hatred and delusion, or someone else - then it's a Wrong Speech. If you ask this question it means that it makes you suffer, or you regret, so yes it's better to avoid it. If you doubt about "does it good or bad action" - then it's a bad one. If there is a doubt the...

Re: Mindfulness of Death

Mindfulness of death is actualy mindfulness of our own anicca, that experiance can end the next moment...

What would I think, say or do if all ends the next moment?

Our death is how things are, Dhamma can lead to depression only if we enjoy the weight and pressure of Samsara.

No. Or if there is, I haven't encountered it. And if there were, someone would have sold it to Jeff Bezos or somesuch, and he would have destroyed it. Good evening Sam Vara 🙏😊 Its interesting how these questions point out to the unsatisfactory nature of senses, to the truth that there is no possibi...
