Re: The Dangers of Eating Late at Night
What about situation where I work during the night and I eat after work before going to sleep? What should I do? I think the same principals apply. Try not to eat shortly before bed. Eat when you awake and before work, then have a late night/early morning lunch. I've had plenty of grave yard shifts...

Re: Why did you choose Theravada rather than Mahayana?
I do not practice Mahayana but, like Dave and Retro, I do not consider myself a Theravada practitioner, either. Not that I frown on the tradition. It is more that the sutta and vinaya pitakas offer doctrines and tools that clarify my thinking and direct my mind to happiness and peace, while extensiv...

Connected with the other poster's comments, consider SN 45.11.
"There is feeling with desire as condition, also feeling with thought as condition, also feeling with perception as condition."
It is a bit of a perplexing sutta, to my mind at least.

Re: The order of words
Which lesson is this? I have a hard time figuring what you've written. Anyway, I'm not an expert, but the order of clauses is fluid in most cases, and the difference in meaning, when there is one, is not a grammatical one but a matter of emphasis - to draw attention of the listener to some specific ...

I told my kids you thought you sounded bad. They said, "he doesn't sound bad." So there you have it, from the mouths of babes.

Re: inscription sugestions
I'd suggest Saddha. You two, over the time you've been together, have developed a basis for being confident in one another for many years to come. Coupled with a little panna and your marriage ought to do well. Congratulations cittasanto and retro. May you boys be happy in your marriages (and may yo...

Re: TOS of Discovering Theravada
I agree that it's likely a good thing to keep, and had wondered before why a limit to editing in that forum wasn't imposed. So keep it, I say, so long as you and the other mods are down with it. And mention it in the TOS. Hopefully then people will use the preview button more (as I should, I know) a...

TOS of Discovering Theravada
Hey, You should mention in the terms on the "Discovering Theravada" forum that even edits need moderator approval. As an habitual over-editor, I was surprised that my first edit on a recent post sent the entire post back the the mods. I'm pretty sure this is a new(ish) action that may have come with...
