Really? Where's this from?
It's from the vinaya in the Khuddakavatthukkhandhaka.
https://suttacentral.net/pli-tv-kd15/en/brahmali
It's a really long page, if your browser can do a search for the word "sauna" on the page you'll find it easily. It's about halfway down.

Re: Guidance for upcoming 3 day solo trip to Sarnath

Beside the river is always a wonderful place to meditate, before sunrise and sunset. Watch the sun come up. It doesn't matter if it is noisy and people are washing, just accept all the noises and meditate on the steps. You are lucky to be Indian, I wish I could go there and just be left alone. Not p...

Re: Sambodhi Padayatra - Walk of Gratitude - Walking Pilgrimage Annual Global Event

I'm suddenly motivated to go to Benares and start walking to Bodh Gaya, recording a GPS route on the back paths.
Or Bodh Gaya to Rajgir would be an easy one.

I won't do that, but what an adventure eh!

Re: Sambodhi Padayatra - Walk of Gratitude - Walking Pilgrimage Annual Global Event

Wow this would be wonderful. I would love for the route to be on small backroads and unofficial footpaths, because the large roads in India are terrible for walking. So busy. There are so many small good quiet dirt roads in India but it would take a long time of looking at maps, or a lot of local kn...

Wonderful opportunity and it's marvellous that you're going!
Just remember to be kind and compassionate to your family.
It's very little effort to tell your mother you love her, and to send a postcard every month or two.

Am I the only one who answered the question? I want to hear about other people's interesting wishes about reality.

Re: What would you prefer to be true?

I wish everything happens for a secret divine purpose, that we are all sparks of a universal celestial being, and after death there's an infinity of ecstatic union with all creation, blissful, eternal.

But i don't believe any of that, I just wish that style of lovely eternalism was true.

Before you start collecting money, have you stayed for a few weeks at that monastery 3 hours from you yet?
You need to do a monastery stay before you ask people on the internet for money to ordain.

Re: How did Indians communicated with the rocket sitting in the south pole?

My understanding is people live in the earth can't communicate with the other side of the moon. The Chandrayan 3 lander is 600km away from the pole, on the side of the moon facing the Earth. So they can radio directly to it. But yes you're right this will be a problem in future missions, and so the...

Help me understand this thought-experiment better...

So we are imagining the Buddha will live maybe a few thousand years in the future, and the suttas will be sent back in a time machine to us?

I don't have an ED but I have quite often seen people who do, get triggered a lot at monasteries. So you're absolutely right there, it can be a big issue for some people.

Australian police don't charge people with rape and sexual abuse charges without very good evidence. In fact they are famous f...

Boris and Pulga, what book are you quoting from? I would like to read it. Nanavira Thera: The puthujjana sees neither.... True. But Ven. Ñanavira concurred with her description of the experience. I am unable to see that it could have been written by a puthujjana, even if he were trying to deceive. I...
