Re: I've tried, I've failed. / eating habit / health
I'm curious: is there a name for your condition? I'd like to know more about it. The second doctor did not mention a name for my condition. He said that I have no problem, it's just a physical characteristic. He said that I stayed under catabolic state for long periods of time (days, weeks, month) ...

Re: I've tried, I've failed. / eating habit / health
It would seem you meet the medical criteria for being given special exemption to eat after 12pm, however finding a monastery that accepts that and allows it may not be as easy, a note from your doctor would help, I would talk to the monastery before taking up residence and make sure they allow you ...

Re: I've tried, I've failed. / eating habit / health
How was it at the monastery you were at? Did the monks have juice or any food in the evenings? The reason I ask, is I have heard that many monks do eat some of the allowable tonics in the evening when the hunger pains are too strong. This is considered allowable for an ill monk and some have interp...

I've tried, I've failed. / eating habit / health
Sawadee krap! _/\_ Recently, I lived 3 months in Thai monasteries with the intention to go forth. I really enjoyed the lifestyle and I was invited to become an anagarika. Except for one thing I could not continue: nutrition . I got sick after one month of eating only one meal a day (09h30 AM), so I ...

Re: best suttas to memorize? techniques?
This is essentially a link to the PDF of everything I have memorised, and what I used http://www.buddhanet.net/cmdsg/bm2.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; if you start memorising the pali satipatthana I have a good sound file to help. Hello, friends. Has anyone got the PDF file men...

Re: Monasticim and parental permission
Would it be valid? I don't know what the policy is at Wat Bananas, but at most Thai wats they will just take your word for it (that is, if they even bother to ask you about it). At the few which require evidence a letter from your parents will suffice. Dear Bhante, thanks for the information. I tak...

Re: Monasticim and parental permission
Hi, fellows! I'll become an anagaraka at Wat Pah Nanachat, Thailand. I'm 29 years old, have a sister almost two years older than me and my parents allow me to ordain. Although the full ordination is still an uncertain event, must I request to my parents an authenticated letter in which they give me ...

Re: Problems continuing my practice
Hello, NerdyPete! If something is not going well in your meditation practice, it probably has to do with one of the Five Hindrances or a combination of them. I strongly recommend a dhamma talk given by Ajahn Brahmavamso on the Five Hindrances (see link below). We all make mistakes, we're not perfect...

Re: white robes
Why not ask the people at Wat Pah Nanachat? I am sure they won't mind you asking a few important questions like that. Anyway, good luck with the noble plans! Thanks for the good luck message, David! For sure, It would be the best way, but the communication with WPN is difficult. I wou...

Re: white robes
Hi everyone! I'm going to arrive at Wat Pah Nanachat on January 2, 2014 to live there as an anagarika. I need to know if I must buy the white robes or if the WPN provides it. If I have to buy, where could I find it in Bangkok near the International Airport or in Ubon Ratchathani near the airport, to...

Re: To those who have ordained or plan to ordain
What is currently holding you back from ordaining? Nothing. But before the decision I thought a lot about my parents and my pets. How long have you been practicing Buddhism? Seriously, about 3 years. How old are you (not really relevant, just curious)? 29 Do you have a particular place you would lik...

Greetings from Brazil
Hello everyone! Needless to say that this is my first postage at DhammaWheel.Com, but I've been here as a visitor many, many times and I've always been benefited. I thank everybody for sharing their knowledge. Here in Brazil, we have a huge Japanese community and for that reason the Mahayana Buddhis...
