Re: Is giving old items (cloths etc) unwholsome?

Is giving old items (clothes etc) unwholsome? I give my old items which I don't want to charity or close friends. Is this unwholesome? I am trying to understand the AN 5.44 https://suttacentral.net/an5.44/en/sujato?layout=plain&reference=none&notes=asterisk&highlight=false&script=la...

Re: STRUGGLING TO UNDERSTAND AND PRACTICING THERAVADA BUDDHISM

If you dont believe , why argues or even practicing ? On what ground you chose to practice? Because I have seen for myself extraordinary results that removed Dukkha, stress, despair, grief from my life. You must have started practicing with some faith or believe in the beginning . So it means you m...

It seems the past thing ceased to be but a new thing comes into being , yet the past thing was link with the new thing by other causes and conditions .

Re: What should I do if I’m having a difficult time fully processing dependent arising?

I'll try again. 1) Spiny said that he finds it helpful to concentrate on one link of the chain of DO. 2) I agreed with him, saying that my teacher had encouraged me to focus just on feeling and craving. I think that it's better to understand one aspect completely and correctly, rather than have a s...

Re: What should I do if I’m having a difficult time fully processing dependent arising?

Indeed, there would always be difficulties, wouldn't there, given that our minds are defiled. My point is that it might be entirely appropriate to focus on one aspect or another of Dependent Origination, and this might be preferable to gaining a merely intellectual view of what it means. No , i don...

Maybe if he had met me, he would have done. No , i doubt that . He doesnt speaks english . Wouldn't need to. My Pali is getting pretty good these days, and I could always ask him to speak slowly. Eh 🤔 probably there is some difficulty since the Buddha spoke Magadhi Prakrit not exactly Pal...

Re: What should I do if I’m having a difficult time fully processing dependent arising?

:namaste: An approach I've found helpful is just to observe how I react to things, thinking of how tanha arises in dependence upon vedana in DO. Yes, I agree. This is what my teacher told me to try - looking at just one or two links in the chain, the easiest being around vedana and tanha . Better t...

You are not supposed to look for the atta instead but observe the aggregates . And dont reduce the process into something just mere all about mind then you may go south .
