Re: Finding love as a buddhist

If it is a natural process that requires no skill, then I would not be here and ask for Buddhist wisdom I mean, there is no skill to make someone really love you. No wisdom required to make someone really love you. People are different and fall in love differently, they appreciate different things,...

Re: Finding love as a buddhist

As such, one might spend time with me and get the impression that I am more in love with my goal than the person in front of me. And maybe herein lies my ultimate challenge. I think you answered your own question, that is, you are starting in the wrong place. [Happy] family is a natural outcome of ...

Re: Giving Up The Ghost

The question of “dying confused” has interested me. I see it in the suttas. And I hope to avoid dying confused.
Dying confused means dying without firm and established right views.

Re: If person asks to be to be removed from it. Is it breaking the 1st precept

I heard in some hospitals they have... something like a charged battery system that gives power to life-support equipment. And you have to manually charge it from time to time for it to have power. However, in certain cases, you may refuse to charge it further, which is quite interesting from moral ...

Re: Does this breaks the 3rd precept?

With the mere arising of intention to possess another's property, or enjoy sexual relations with the spouse of another, one makes the unwholesome mental kamma of covetousness (abhijjhā), which leads to the lower realms. I doubt this is the case. From how I see it, such intention is just an incomple...

Odds are if aliens had the tech to visit earth they woulda done so by now. But probably they did, at least in the very distant past, as there are so many traces left. Highly recommend to watch this (not just hypotheses, but actual facts and proofs) 8-) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ixTTvRGk0HQ&

Re: Does karma really exists? Can you prove it?

Does karma really exists? Can you prove it? It is impossible to prove, "kamma" is one of the things to believe in Buddhism. Well, unless you possess that " divine eye, which is purified and surpasses the human " so that you are able to " see beings passing away and being re...

Re: Kasiṇa and Jhāna

Are there any suttas which directly link the Kasiṇas with Jhāna?
All suttas speak about kasinas in jhanic context, simply because kasina is a [possible] mental state in jhana.

Re: Ajahn Jayasāro Cave Retreat

Long periods of silence are attested in the canon, e.g. Gangatiriya in the Theragatha.
Period of silence is nothing in comparison with locking oneself in a (small?) dark cave for a year.

Can anybody direct me to this talk? Where can I listen to or download it? Much thanks! Don't know if such exists in record. But, I heard about this myself from him personally, quite a long time ago, maybe be 12-13 years ago. I don't remember much details but from what I remember, generally it wasn'...

“And how, bhikkhus, is one subject to decline? Here, bhikkhus, when a bhikkhu has seen a form with the eye, there arise in him evil unwholesome states, memories and intentions connected with the fetters. If the bhikkhu tolerates them and does not abandon them, dispel them, put an end to them, and ob...
