Re: Dhammayut Ordination Options

Well to go through ordination one needs robes etc. If you are in a foreign country and just want to ordain I expect the need for money to quickly arise. I personally did not pay any money to become ordained but I certainly had to use money leading up to ordaining to organize everything. And also it ...

Re: Ordaining as a parent

I'd say it completely depends upon the monastery/Monastic community that you ordain with.

It's something you'd need to discuss with them.

If they have no issues with it than it should be fine.

Re: Monastics Handling Money [Was: Dhammayut Ordination Options]

I completely understand and appreciate the last two responses. I agree and I don't mean to give an erroneous or irreverent view of the vinaya. I should be more careful with my expressions. It is unbelievably new to me people feeling so strongly about Buddhism and the Monastic community. Probably why...

Re: Monastics Handling Money [Was: Dhammayut Ordination Options]

I don't feel safe enough in this forum to share information about my personal life. I've already been attacked, harassed, and accused of not only being someone pretending to be a monk but in fact to be so evil and inappropriate in my activities that I can no longer be considered a monk by any reason...

Re: Monastics Handling Money [Was: Dhammayut Ordination Options]

Unbelievably interesting views in this community. I focus on samadhi and the development of compassion. As well as social justice work. As far as everyone saying I'm not a monk or I'm a bad monk, whatever it is. If you feel so curious please feel free to pm me and ask me questions. If you are confu...

Re: Monastics Handling Money [Was: Dhammayut Ordination Options]

Everyone seems to be upset or attempting to violate me for the fact that I am a monk. How am I damaging my community? Give me one example of me breaking a precept or some sort of violation of Buddhists teachings? This feels more like some kind of fundamentalist group than it does a group of people w...

I was being harassed by a user being aggressive and negative.

They had all their comments deleted by the moderation of this forum.

It was very inapropriate.

Lol. No, definitely not.

I'm a monk in real life. Not here for internet opinions on my validity.

Re: Monastics Handling Money [Was: Dhammayut Ordination Options]

To you I am a fake monk. I am a part of a Monastic order. We do not look to santa100 for ordinations or for continued inspection of Monastic values in the community. I'll restate. I am a monk in the Dhammayut Thai Forrest tradition in Thailand. I was ordained by a venerable Ajahn and teacher that is...

Not even a fart can be shared. Wonderful words of wisdom from a wise monk! Here you go. Zen Master Kodo Sawaki. I'll let him close us out. You can’t even trade a single fart with the next guy. Each and every one of us has to live out his own life. Don’t waste time thinking about who’s most talented...
