Re: Propagating false beliefs

Hello, I’m faced with a conundrum: I’m proficient in Arabic, I enjoy teaching it, and I particularly enjoy teaching Qur’anic Arabic, which for obvious reasons is a topic that mostly attracts religious Muslims. I feel I’m doing something positive by helping these people better understand the textual...

The thing I want to know is how do I kill a yakkha.

Re: Best Guide for Breath Meditation For Beginners

The Buddha said that breath fulfills the four foundations of awareness. I take this to mean you can practice breath on each foundation, body, feeling, mind, and dhamma. If on the body then feel the rise and fall of the abdomen/chest as your breathing naturally. If feeling, then feel the breath in t...

Re: lie, watching porn, hearing music, playing games compatible with trying to attain first stage of enlightment?

Bodhi, two very good posts in a row. I wanted to ask is it healthy for the physical body and natural and normal to be celibate and to never ejaculate? For any Monks on here or those who are celibate and never ejaculate, what do you notice in your physical body, is your body healthier or are you exp...

Re: lie, watching porn, hearing music, playing games compatible with trying to attain first stage of enlightment?

In males, prostate health can benefit from frequent ejaculation, whether this is with another person or alone. A 2016 study found that men who ejaculated at least 21 times per month had a lower risk of prostate cancer compared with those who ejaculated 4–7 times per month. but bhava nirodha is good...

Re: Why did the Buddha choose not to live of Light?

He wasn't asked to eat light. The devas said they were going to put divine food in through his poors. It doesn't mention light anywhere. So you're question is not intelligent. What you said is bologey. The cause of the body is food. When you stop eating the body has no more support and ceaseless to...

That is the Vedas. Not Buddhism Funny post. You think the Buddha would have taught about "devas" if he did not live in Brahmanistic culture? No it's not funny. Believing the devas are not real as you do, is your wrong view. There are two reincarnations for one with wrong view, hel...

Re: Why is citta not an aggregate or niddana?

Nibbana is a dhamma. Nibbana is not just a teaching. Still, despite all of this, we can see that there is no basis to accept your magical unicorn “true self”. Logical incompatibility. Nibbana is a dhamma, yes you agree with me when its suits you, but cessation is a description of something. This ce...

It has been suggested by some of Thailand's foremost scholar monks the Pali word "nirodha" is problematic.

A problem with the word "nirodha".
I wasn't talking about nirodha.

No it is not possible, how do you anthropomorphize the word "deva"? I don't think you've read the samyutta nikaya. These are words claimed to be from the Buddha, he says wind devas, rain devas, cloud devas, etc. He never says it's anthropomorphized. He never says it's not anthropomorphize...

You've given up. Don't tell this to others. Jhana is the best cheat code and it is worth pursuing till you die. The world is mara's cheat code on your happiness. Cheating away your pleasure. Jhana takes the power back. You need to be "dwelling alone, withdrawn, heedful, ardent, and resolute&qu...
