Re: Identity View

that the sabbe dhamma anatta could get revealed also for me. I am curious how does people get from sabbe dhamma anatta a notion that there is no self to begin with. I think it is not much i am asking here from how easy i am told to go away. Sabbe dhammā anattā covers everything, both conditioned an...

Re: Identity View

No that was arguing / showing in favour to let go that kind of conceptualizing. That’s because ‘more truth’ is beyond thoughts. And I would like to point to that perspective/ state of mind somehow. From my perspective it’s just not helpful to state or to imply qualities without an object. Only more...

Re: Identity View

I currently focus on Advaita. It's because I've practised both Advaita and Theravada that I understand the differences between them. You, along with another prolific poster here, want to make Theravada sound like a version of Advaita, which it clearly isn't. This is a good approach. It i...

Re: Identity View

Same goes to user DNS and user Ceiswir. This is the Classical Theravada section, which has strict guidelines to not argue against the core principles of Classical Theravada. In other sections of the forum it is okay to present other interpretations or engage in debate. I actually don't have a probl...

Re: Disrespecting Vipassana

Maybe if you'd taken the time to ask a half decent question instead of a one word post I might have done. I asked why it’s Jainism 🤷🏻‍♂️ No you didn't. You said... 'Jainism?' I thought you meant you'd never heard of it (it's an ancient religion from India) or am I being obtuse 😉 You knew what I was...

Why? you keep suggesting it for many times, but not telling why
Because your views and Advaita are the same, or some forms of Mahayana that teach there is a true self. Your views don’t align with the suttas and Theravada.
Exactly.
It’s like arguing that Jesus was an atheist Marxist.

In Burma some monks refused donations from certain generals because of how the Muslims were being treated there.

Re: Is the nature of the mind is ignorance?

I think the most widely held view, backed up by teachings, is that realization of bodhi would not be possible if it were not the mind’s true nature. You can slice open a thousand onions and never find a single pearl because onions are not mollusks. Similarly, if the realized mind was not already in...

sm2019 wrote: Mon Apr 08, 2024 10:38 am Some people say, in meditation we need to make an effort to make our breathing subtle, deep and slow, while others say we shouldn't try to control our breathing, we should just observe it. What is your opinion on this?
No need to control it IMO.

Re: Is the nature of the mind is ignorance?

Is the nature of the mind is ignorance? Venerable Seelawimala said that the nature of our mind is ignorance and it is not possible to see it. However, we can see the angry mind and the mind with attachment. Even if you are in a highly meditative mental state you still have the ignorance. So how do ...

See Suddh's comment above 👍
