Re: Did Christianity "borrow" from Buddhism?

And you will find none beyond the Jesus -went -to -Kashmir fringe of syncretic New Ageism. There is no biblical scholar of any repute , whether Christian or Jewish, religious or secular, who accepts any influence either way, other than at a rare and individual level, between Christianity and Buddhis...

Re: Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera gel is amazing stuff. A few years ago I had shingles. Re: Got Any Anti-Nausea, Upset Stomach Tips?

The ginger needs to be the fresh root, grated and made into a 'tea'..steeped for several minutes. Many people find it more palatable with honey and a little lemon.
The probiotic needs to be in capsule form..the yoghurt type drinks are of limited use.

Re: cause of depression

All I know is, we managed to land on the moon many years back but our well supported scientific community hasn't been able to still find an actually lasting and long-term-effective treatment to one of the most common psychological problems today - which is depression. Yes, I am sour. :tantrum: Ther...

Re: cause of depression

hi, When i suffer depression it's usually because of unwise attention and lack of mindfulness. I am either caught up in a destructive or negative thought pattern and lack the awareness to take one step back to assess things. Depression can sometimes feel too overwhelming that i can't really practic...

Re: cause of depression

1) Congnitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a clinical explanation of depression. 2) CBT and the Buddha are in approximate agreement about role of the mind in creating depression. 3) Therefore, CBT is an approximate Buddhist clinical explanation of the cause(s) of depression. A Psychiatrist and Cogni...

Exactly so....so on Sunday I am off to Mass.
At least no one will think that James Stewart has been reborn as a frog or is in hell for having the temerity to star in "Its A Wonderful Life." You find a kinder brand of delusion.

Re: Paul Williams' On converting from Buddhism to Catholicism

Beyond the rhetoric and invidious comparison we have in the sutta the statement that an actor is in and of her/his profession both intoxicated and a cause of intoxication. And as a result will go to either a hell realm or be reborn as an animal. And this strikes you as plausible..sane...reasonable.....
