Welcome to Dhamma Wheel
This is my standard recommendation for beginners:
a)
Watch the video "A short introduction to Buddism" by Bhikkhu Bodhi
Read Buddhism course. (Take about 12 hours to read and give you a good idea about the teaching)
http://www.urbandharma.org/pdf/PDF_BuddhismCourse/
a) Listen to the ten lecture series by Bhikkhu Bodhi
https://bodhimonastery.org/the-buddhas- ... it-is.html
b)Print a copy of this Dhamma Chart and refer to it while studying Buddhism.
http://www.dhammawheel.com/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=16785
c) Read Buddha’s Teaching by Narada. Start from chapter 15.
http://www.buddhanet.net/pdf_file/buddh ... gsurw6.pdf
d) While you reading texts please listen to the following Dhamma Talk by Joseph Goldstein.
http://www.dharmaseed.org/teacher/96/talk/6162/
e) Start reading Sutta.
Good starting point would be to read Bikkhu Bodhi’s “In the Buddha’s Word”

Then read Sutta or listen to Central. Start from Majjhima Nikaya. https://suttacentral.net/mn
f) Last but not least practice what you learn.

There is always an official executioner. If you try to take his place, It is like trying to be a master carpenter and cutting wood. If you try to cut wood like a master carpenter, you will only hurt your hand.

Welcome!
Liberation is the inevitable fruit of the path and is bound to blossom forth when there is steady and persistent practice. The only requirements for reaching the final goal are two: to start and to continue. If these requirements are met there is no doubt the goal will be attained. This is the Dhamma, the undeviating law.

This might be worth reading: "Theravada Buddhism in a Nutshell," by Ajahn Amaro the abbot of Amaravati Theravada Buddhist Monastery UK.

Thank you everyone for inviting me to dhammawheel. I have watched bhikku bodhi on the four noble truths on youtube. It was very enlightening.

Good morning. I'm not the OP, but I was interested in your links. Unfortunately, several are broken (including the link to Bhikkhu Bodhi's lecture series). Also, it isn't clear which Goldstein talk you were trying to point to. It's just a list of his talks. I was particularly interested in seeing what the Dhamma Chart was all about, but the link in the forum thread you linked to is from 2013 and it is broken. If you find an intact link, please let me know!SarathW wrote: ↑Tue Aug 03, 2021 3:14 am Welcome to Dhamma Wheel

Re: Hey people newbie here
For introduction to Buddhism one can watch any one of the many videos on youtube. Eventually you might want to study the actual texts, this site is a good place for this.
There is much controversy and you will probably want to make up your own mind about those things having considered the primary sources rather than relying on a teacher's interpretation.
