Añjali.

I made an attempt earlier to post an introduction, but it seems to have disappeared after I was told it was approved. (I tried to make a small edit; maybe that's what did it?) In any case, I'm a recent "convert" and hope to learn a lot here. I happen to live near a few wats, but I've been having trouble getting to them and making connections; this will do in the meantime.

Mettā.

Welcome to DW!

Correct, when you edit a post, it goes back to the moderation que. You'll be in the moderation que just for the first few posts or so. That way people who join to spam, never get to see their posts show up.

Thanks, Mr. Snyder. I'd figured it was something like that; I don't mind.

Glad to be here.

Do you adhere or incline to any specific tradition within the Theravada?

I don't think that I do, although I'm curious about the Vipassanā movement and a socially engaged practice. I'd love to learn more about what your experiences have been with the various branches of Theravāda.

I personally can't accept the Thai Forest Doctrine of meeting the Buddha, confirmations of attainments but i also know there are many different views and diversity within and some Bhikkhus have seemingly even "gone their own way" while formally still being a part of TF Sangha.

I am 99+% alligned with Ven. Mahasi Sayadaw's and Ven. Ajahn Tong Sirimangalo's teachings.
