i'd quite rather have the chat be in a separate location so i can click on it if i decide to
i'd rather be able to scroll to the bottom of a page without seeing the chat

chat at the bottom of every page?
I host a sutta discussion via Zoom Sundays at 11AM Chicago time — message me if you are interested
Re: chat at the bottom of every page?
its called the "gossip column"
One thing i noticed about Buddhist population is that hardly anybody has any kind of breakthroughs in regards to understanding and there is little to no agreement
i mean nobody announces this and there is no particular 'group' among theravadins
on these forums i mean, there is no 2 people i can point out as having same understanding of the Dhamma
expected there to be ariya facebook groups when i started with buddhist forums
There is always an official executioner. If you try to take his place, It is like trying to be a master carpenter and cutting wood. If you try to cut wood like a master carpenter, you will only hurt your hand.

I agree. It's annoying that you can't turn it off.

I guess its the Left-Wingers that complain due to taking offense.

Nope. I just don't like clutter - physical, mental or (in this case) visual.

It's amusing seeing some awkward postings there at times, tho.

Good and evil have no fixed form. It's as easy to turn from doing bad to doing good as it is to flip over the hand from the back to the palm. It's simply up to us to do it. Master Hsuan Hua.

To be more explicit, the annoying interface issue is that when one is skimming through a multi-page thread, it's easy to get stuck scrolling inside the chat box, whereas what one it looking for in that case is the button to go to the next page of the thread.

Are you just miffed that the chat box is not all exclusively DooDoot's amateur poetry hour?DooDoot wrote: ↑Mon Nov 16, 2020 5:02 am its called the "gossip column"One thing i noticed about Buddhist population is that hardly anybody has any kind of breakthroughs in regards to understanding and there is little to no agreement

I still can't see it. I'm fine with that though.
What is the Uncreated?
Sublime & free, what is that obscured Eternity?
It is the Undying, the Bright, the Isle.
It is an Ocean, a Secret: Reality.
Both life and oblivion, it is Nirvāṇa.

Okay, that experiment is completed. It is removed.
