The link to quoted material was an upgrade a few years ago. It's very useful, because if someone quotes you (properly) you get a notification. If someone just writes:
mike:
Some nonsense...
I don't get notified...

Whereas if they do this:
mikenz66 wrote: Thu Nov 26, 2020 8:03 pmSome nonsense...
I do!
:woohoo:

Perhaps it is a good idea to notify changes or improvements to the forum members.
By the way how can we quote only a small portion?
Say I want to quote only ""The link to quoted material was an upgrade a few years ago"
“As the lamp consumes oil, the path realises Nibbana”

The above is a good example of an extensive quoting post. There was no need to have multiple quotes and such a long one in that post.

You push the "Reply with Quote" button (as you've obviously done above), then edit the content.

Some other forum software allows you to highlight the part you want to quote, but this software is quite Classical...

Some members are still posting huge chunks of stuff, like long quotes from suttas, Abhidhamma, etc. I wonder if anyone actually reads this stuff?
