at least here, the suttas form the basis of many or most argumentson the other forum, suttas are probably not considered authoritative because sūtras that entirely contradict them are considered valid.
i havent looked much at the other site but there is no early buddhism section.
for all its flaws, this site values authenticity
You have no idea how true this is.
True story - one of the vip members on the other wheel wrote "the sutra says X"
Another member asked for a citation and was ignored.
So later I posted the relevant ciation, translated the relevant section and included the link.
The vip member was put into a position where he had to correct himself, which he did.
Then the citation was deleted, but the vip member's correction was allowed to stay !
Much later, it was brought up in the thread by a different member - and a different user said "We don't delete relevant citations here, do we? People do need to provide citations to support arguments. If we don't rely on textual authority, then we're just making shit up, frankly."
then the mod replys "No, of course we don't do that intentionally. Does that need to be said? "
Like they can't even be honest about what they do.

The two forums seem to have vastly different temperaments.
thats an understatment !
This is why the one time I say some name calling on this site I said that they shouldn't and take it to dharmawheel where that stuff is ok. -
