Why don't we have a separate forum on "Philosophy" and "Science"?

Why don't we have a separate forum on "Philosophy" and "Science"?

Post by sphairos »

Dear Team of DW,

As nearly half of all topics here are about or connected to or touch upon philosophy and science, which shows a real interest of the public, why not create such subforums as "Buddhism/Theravāda and philosophy", "Buddhism/Theravāda and science"?

The "early Buddhism" subforum is dedicated to scholarly discussion, as it is impossible to touch real Antiquity otherwise as through rigorous scholarship. Why not have a subforum for scholarly discussion of the matters at the intersection of Buddhism and philosophy/science. It's interesting to a lot of people, it's great for self-development and it's harmless if in moderation.

Interesting.

It may be Ok as long as these specific subforums are created under "connections to other paths".

However, I strongly object creating additional main subforums for them.

Buddha's Dhamma is neither philosophy nor science. These belong to other paths.

What about a mathematics subforum?
There is always an official executioner. If you try to take his place, It is like trying to be a master carpenter and cutting wood. If you try to cut wood like a master carpenter, you will only hurt your hand.

Because if there's any connection to Theravada it can be done in the Connections section. Not every possible Connection necessitates its own section.

If there's no connection, it can be done at Dharma Wheel Engaged - https://www.dharmawheel.org/

We are very unlikely to add any new sections, unless there's a type of Dhamma-related discussion that cannot be easily had under the current taxonomy.
