What do they get?
Free entertainment.
But they don't know they indirectly pay for it mainly by wasted time.
It is like watching free youtube videos.
There is nothing is free in this world.

How is it entertainment .. watching 12 Years A Slave or Mission Impossible 6 is entertainment (depending on one's taste) .. watching Word Cup football is entertainment .. watching Springsteen sing My Hometown is entertainment .. what is entertaining about two very wealthy people (one of whom is extremely entitled) getting married

Only serious ones like The Lunchbox .. parallel cinema or alternative cinema .. and sometimes Bollywood movies with strong storyline and made without any song and dance sequence .. but those are really rare even now.

Would not be caught dead watching a mainstream Bollywood film.

I'm a bit shaky on my Australian political history, but wasn't it justified and a good call in the end?
"No" to the first question (at best, they could find plausible excuses for it) and "maybe" to the second (Whitlam was probably going to crash, one way or another). But the central points are that the G-G pulled the plug on a government that Aussies elected and that the Queen did not stop him.
But we're rather OT here so I will leave it at that.

Interesting, thanks. I looked it up on The internet too, it must have been a crazy time.
Sorry for the off topic.

I'm watching too, oh don't Clooney and Amal look lovely. Clarissa has a geat hat. But poor old Victoria Beckham looks sad.
Good weather for it.
Hope nobody gets assassinated.

Some twenty years ago, Steven Spielberg wore a Nazi uniform at the Oscars when his film Schindler's List won awards.

and only have a figure-head capacity
Do not underestimate the hidden power.
Governer general sacked the prime minister Gough Whitlam.
What if GG sack NZ prime minister.
Who can stop that?
The sort of deadlock that led to that incident couldn't happen under our parliamentary system, as we only have one House (whereas Australia has two, so there can be a deadlock between them).

Gah! They've said their vows like, three times already, and exchanged rings, Even George Clooney and Amal are looking a bit bored.
It's past midnight here and time for bed....
Wait, no, we're all singing God Save The Queen! I know some of the words.
And they're walking out of the chapel, wow she really looks like a fairytale princess.. diamond tiara!.. and it's time for bed really this time.
