Osama bin Laden is dead

Post by andre9999 »

For anyone who isn't aware, there's going to be a US White House announcement in a few minutes that Osama bin Laden has been killed in Afghanistan.

That's all the detail that's been available the last twenty minutes.

Hello all,

Well ... President Obama has confirmed the killing. What will Al Qaeda do now?

Kill more people, of course.

I understand that most of the terrorists recently caught in the west have been self recruited and self directed. Osamas death is mostly symbolic and will not change anything.

Excactly my thinking.

What causes me to be frigthened is the need of an personated evil for the western (american) politics. Someone has to take the job. For public relations, for election campaigns, for a simple was to justify more and mor billions of military budget. So, who will be the successor for this job?
English isn´t my native language. So please accept my apologies for my kind of spelling and grammar ;-)

How can you take joy in the death of someone else? Even if he was horrible at being a person, by taking pleasure in his death aren't you doing the same thing that he has done when he killed 3000 + Americans? Violence breeds violence, that is the way it has always been and that will not change. People are still dead and will remain that way, families are still torn apart and will continue to be. Soldiers will still not be allowed to return home. Do not celebrate this but sit back and learn from it. Be well.

Hello all,

It is highly likely that each of us has performed killing in previous lives. Perhaps it is worth considering Angulimala?

Yes. The remaining or new Al-Qaida leaders now have more persuasive power for recruiting new terrorists. They can now say: "The Americans killed our great leader Osama Bin Laden. We have to revenge this act of brutality."

Or, they may think: Our great leader has been killed: best we run away!
