A Buddhist Rap by Yours Truly

Hey all,
So I wrote my first Buddhist rap and posted it on ES a few years ago. Unfortunately, because I'm an idiot and didn't save a copy, it got lost with everything else on the site...

So here's another. And I did remember to save this one

I haven't yet thought of an appropriate name for it. It started out titled "Free Thought" because I actually didn't intend for it to be specifically Buddhist in content - just a free-flowing stream of ideas written down. Alas, the Buddha had his way with it, I suppose.

It was loosely written to the tune of the track "Urban Buddhism" by the Buddhist Monks of Sakya Tashi Ling. Anyone here heard of them? They cut an album that actually isn't half bad if you're into pop spirituality...

Anyway, here ya go

Free Thought
A hip hop song

Verse 1:
Upon this hour my whole aim is to devour your entire sense of power and control of your mind/ it is time for reality, true spirituality, new for your mentality, kinda hard to find/ I make it rhyme, words not mine, taken straight outta the ether/ not a preacher, just a creature on the path, call me a seeker/ it hits you like a ton of bricks, watch out for karate kicks, mind might start to do some flips, see if you can handle this/ it’s so reflective/ dive into your psyche and changing yo whole perspective/ elect to dismiss old habits, reach out and grab it/ you can have it, free your mind then it becomes automatic/ this is the standard, breathe deeply and feel the source of life/ a simple moment lived cuts through confusion like a knife/ your life is a journey towards a high state of existence/ persistence, feel the state of peace and be a witness/

Verse 2:
So what is real?/ Is it really what you feel?/ can you grab a hold of it in your hands? Does it peel?/ is it found in the moment when you’re searching for your place?/ is it bliss? is it freedom? is it one with time and space?/ come face to face with the questions, ignore common suggestions/ let the answers come quiet and inform your life lessons/ a method cultivated, six years of searching ended/ emerged as the enlightened, past and future had been mended/ transcended human conditions, and spread the true religion/ and with one breath he left into the void he ascended/ relive it, you too can attain the state of peace/ the holy life fulfilled, I am finally released/

So I'm currently in touch with a Buddhist rapper who goes by the name "Born Infinite" - check him out on YouTube. He's pretty good.
