Kamma

Post by Gena1480 »

Hello i have a question
about kamma
as i understand kamma
there is action (cause) and ripening of action
when there is ripening of action
is the cause abandon
or with ripening of action does not eliminate the cause
does ripening of verbal action eliminates cause of verbal action

As I understand it, ripening does not eliminate cause.

The deed is still done...even with a consequence, the action still exists.

As far as I am able to understand and ascertain from the article below, Kamma and its severity can be modified, and results may vary; but I cannot see scope for the ripening to eliminate the cause.

I could of course be incorrect.
I trust someone who wishes to correct me, if so, will be gentle.

The way I understand the cause an effect complete the full circle.
However you have to exercise mindfulness when ripening the Kamma.
Depend on your mindfulness, a new cycle begins.

Not all Kamma comes to fruition - think of Angulimala.

Thank you
TheNoBSBuddhist
i personally think
i want to understand kamma through
right effort
i read in parrita sutta number 23
Discourse on Analysis of Truth
the Ven Sariputta explains the 8 noble path and in the right effort
and the noble right effort
one puts will to prevent the arising of evil(unwholesome thoughts)
that have yet to be arisen, and to banish already arisen evil thought
and put will to develop good thoughts that have not yet arisen
and to preserve increase bring to maturity good thought that have already arisen.

TheNoBSBuddhist
do i understand this right that you can put cessation to evil thoughts with good thoughts
is with arising of good thought the bad thought is banish
do i understand this correctly is good though is cause and bad thought is effect or i am missing something
with our will we can bring the arising and cessation of verbal speech in the head
as regular understanding verbal speech in head is our thoughts
and sutta understanding the applied and sustain thought brings verbal speech in the head
and my personal opinion is that cause and effect is not the same is origination and cessation am i wrong to think that
is there pali words for cause and effect or this is English words
Thank you all

cause = Heatu and effect = Phala
