The Verses of the Senior Monks: Sujato's Theragatha

Post by Anagarika »

From Ajahn Sujato's blog today comes his announcement of the publication of "The Verses of the Senior Monks: an approachable translation of the Theragatha" This new translation by Ven. Sujato is at http://suttacentral.net/thag . In his blog today, Bhante explains how he came to work on a new translation of this body of writings from monks of the Buddha's time. http://sujato.wordpress.com/2014/09/09/ ... heragatha/

"Of all the texts in the Pali canon, it is in the verses of these senior monks and nuns that we come closest to the personal experience of living in the time of the Buddha, struggling with, and eventually overcoming, the causes of suffering that are so captivating. I hope that this new translation can help bring these experiences to life for a new audience."

It looks great. Wonderful to have such clear translations of the entire volume.

Thank you very much for the information!

It's like reading small poems, my favourites :)
