Free download of Itivuttaka by J.D. Ireland—EPUB, Kindle, PDF

Post by BKh »

A while back the complete translation of the Itivuttaka by John D. Ireland was uploaded to SuttaCentral.net. Now you can download a copy as an epub, Kindl (azw3) and PDF (Letter, A4, booklet). Visit:

https://readingfaithfully.org/book-sour ... indle-pdf/

There is also a link on that page to a complete audio book of the same translation.

Any feedback/corrections are welcome.

I've used that translation in my sutta class. The prose is far less clunky, but the translation feels archaic. Why not use the just finished translation of Ajahn Sujato's designed to be easily understood by non-academic English speakers?
Whatever a bhikkhu frequently thinks and ponders upon, that will become the inclination of his mind. - MN 19

Because... it doesn't exist. The only translation he has done in the KN is the Theragatha.

There were some typos in the original SuttaCentral version of this text and they have now been corrected. Also, I was pleased to discover that just this year Pariyatti has released it's own edition of the Udana Itivuttaka by John D Ireland. This means it should be much easier to get the text throuh amazon.

Perhaps there's confusion as in the BPS pdf from that link it's stated:
"Prepared for SuttaCentral by Bhikkhu Sujato"
