For example, you could interpret a situation you find your self in as a result of an ethical choice you made in the past. However, if you take rebirth to be self continuity, then reducing self continuity to intentional actions or ethical choices can be mistaken. For example, you do not always breath intentionally, but breathing is a necessary condition for self continuity.
If you could explain what self continuity means ? Physical body with its mental aspects ?

Physical body is necessary for re-cognition. For example, others re-cognize you through your physical body, which gives rise to the belief in self -continuity. The rate of dissolution of the physical body does not make it disappear all at once upon death, hence the body remains a reference when the body lies down as lifeless but visible, usually referred to as: X is dead.
And the Blessed One addressed the bhikkhus, saying: "Behold now, bhikkhus, I exhort you: All compounded things are subject to vanish. Strive with earnestness!"

This was the last word of the Tathagata.

Yes. No "person", no vipaka.

The "I am conceit" referred to above is to be abandoned, as it is a delusion, rooted in a delusional sense of self (person).

Therefore, you're effectively asking "same delusion?"
