Thai chanting with roman alphabet

Post by awareness-kindness »

Dear beloved siblings. I bow to you with hopes of happiness, peace, safety and health for you.

And I come with a dire need for help! I regularly visit a thai temple for chanting but I know no thai and they don't have their chanting written in roman alphabet and with translation so I can understand and chant.

I have recorded the whole chanting and provide a link to the recording here.

Could anyone please provide me or refer me to the chanting written in thai with roman alphabet letters and an english translation? If you provide me with links then could you please point out the exact parts of the texts that correspond to this chanting?

Full of gratitude I bow.

These are Pali chants, and can be found in books like:

https://www.dhammatalks.org/ebook_index ... n0001.html
https://forestsangha.org/teachings/book ... ge=English

I don't have time to point out exact places right now, but you can look through the morning and evening chants in those books, and you'll find most of it (in different orders).

Hopefully someone will chip in with some more one-to-one references.

If it helps, on the mark 0:51 they start with "the triple gem chanting" (I don't know how to refer to it)
Arahaṁ sammā-sambuddho bhagavā.
The Blessed One is Worthy & Rightly Self-awakened.

Buddhaṁ bhagavantaṁ abhivādemi.
I bow down before the Awakened, Blessed One.

(Bow down)

Svākkhāto bhagavatā dhammo.
The Dhamma is well-expounded by the Blessed One.

Dhammaṁ namassāmi.
I pay homage to the Dhamma.

(Bow down)

Supaṭipanno bhagavato sāvaka-saṅgho.
The Saṅgha of the Blessed One’s disciples has practiced well.

Saṅghaṁ namāmi.
I pay respect to the Saṅgha.

(Bow down)
[Namo tassa] bhagavato arahato sammā-
sambuddhassa. (three times)
Homage to the Blessed One, the Worthy One,
the Rightly Self-awakened One.
Itipi so bhagavā arahaṁ sammā-sambuddho,
He is a Blessed One, a Worthy One, a Rightly Self-awakened One,

Vijjā-caraṇa-sampanno sugato lokavidū,
consummate in knowledge & conduct, one who has gone the good way, knower of the cosmos,

Anuttaro purisa-damma-sārathi satthā deva-manussānaṁ buddho bhagavāti.
unexcelled trainer of those who can be tamed, teacher of devas & human beings; awakened; blessed.

There is always an official executioner. If you try to take his place, It is like trying to be a master carpenter and cutting wood. If you try to cut wood like a master carpenter, you will only hurt your hand.
