Looking for Sutta reference

Post by bodom »

I am looking for a passage in which the Buddha gave a discourse to his disciples and then asked if they had ever heard those words before. They replied that they had not, and the Buddha said that he too was just hearing them for the first time.

It is one of my favorite passages in the Canon and I can't for the life of me remember where it is found.

:anjali:
Liberation is the inevitable fruit of the path and is bound to blossom forth when there is steady and persistent practice. The only requirements for reaching the final goal are two: to start and to continue. If these requirements are met there is no doubt the goal will be attained. This is the Dhamma, the undeviating law.
