Recitation of Aṭṭhakavagga and Pārāyanavagga
Recitation of Aṭṭhakavagga and Pārāyanavagga
Anyone here recites Aṭṭhakavagga and Pārāyanavagga?
I am reading both these vaggas and want to learn how to recite them in Pali. Do we need to recite the Pali words in the bracket too?

I don't think would make sense, as they are carefully crafted verses - the bracketed text is, I think, commentary clarifying who is speaking.
I found the chanting of some of the other SNP suttas by Bhikkhus Sujato and Akaliko during lockdown last year very helpful in learning to follow the metres:

Ānandajoti Bhikkhu has a nice discussion of metres:

And the basics of scanning are here:

Re: Recitation of Aṭṭhakavagga and Pārāyanavagga
Ven. Jiv made an excellent pali recording of parayana vagga this year

new recordings announced on this blog that you can subscribe to

I asked Ven. Anandajoti about reciting the parenthethical comments. He said it was ok to include as part of recitation.
I don't chant the parenthetical parts myself in my practice.
I have 3 of the 16 suttas in parayana memorized in their entirety, for the remaining suttas in that vagga,
I intend do just memorize one stanza (the most important or interesting part) from each.

I think I will not recite the parenthetical parts too. I will focus on learning Parayanavagga first.

As far as memorization goes, I have found this to be quite helpful:Ontheway wrote: ↑Sat Dec 04, 2021 4:33 pmSadhu for your good effort.frank k wrote: ↑Sat Dec 04, 2021 4:25 pm Ven. Jiv made an excellent pali recording of parayana vagga this year

Although the advice is geared towards memorizing chanting it will hopefully help.
Good luck in your efforts
