Did this modern Russian God create an early Buddhist commune in Siberia???

Exploring Theravāda's connections to other paths - what can we learn from other traditions, religions and philosophies?

How is that Buddhist? It appears to be a Christian-based cult.

But it appears to be very Buddhist, just listen to what the leader (God) says...

Okay, watched it. And still don't see anything Buddhist. He believes in reincarnation, UFOs, that aliens are soulless or something like that, but still very Christian; that he's the reincarnation of Jesus, Mary is his mother, there will be an apocalypse. More info here:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vissarion

I can see why people can get attracted to that; a sense of community, a sort of commune, beautiful forest backgrounds, escape from the rat-race, etc.

It appears he may already be in trouble?
On 22 September 2020, Russian authorities arrested Vissarion on charges of running an illegal religious organisation, possible physical harm to others, and extortion. He was apprehended by the FSB and Russian police, and taken to Novosibirsk central district court, along with two aides, Vadim Redkin and Vladimir Vedernikov.[7][4]

Torop rejected his first wife and married a nineteen-year-old who had lived with him since she was a girl of seven. He has six children from the two marriages.[15]

Vissarion has a younger half-sister, Irina. Though he has a biological mother named Nadyezhda, Vissarion considers Mary, mother of Jesus, as his own mother.[16]

What is the Uncreated?
Sublime & free, what is that obscured Eternity?
It is the Undying, the Bright, the Isle.
It is an Ocean, a Secret: Reality.
Both life and oblivion, it is Nirvāṇa.

I'm sure that you think that the sect you posted concerning is the true epitome of what is "religion."

Care to elaborate?
And the Blessed One addressed the bhikkhus, saying: "Behold now, bhikkhus, I exhort you: All compounded things are subject to vanish. Strive with earnestness!"

This was the last word of the Tathagata.

It takes a special troll to hate something yet spend ~4 years studying it at some unfortunate university. I can't imagine what grading your papers would have been like. Any to share with us? One on how Buddhism is very special and not a religion because religions are for simple ancient people and Buddhism isn't for simple ancient people? I'm sure that's a scholarly assessment from you and writing a paper on that wouldn't have gotten rejected as a topic available for you to write some paper on. (This is sarcasm.)

Don't forget, you failed miserably to provide a viable, scholarly acceptable definition of religion -- even Christianity, a religion par excellence, you can't define acceptably! You surely would have failed in any academic effort, had you ever dared to take one

It's difficult, it needs thinking, not just blindly reiterating some ancient religious superstitions which don't have anything to do with the matter (Buddhism) itself.
