Science has measurements and theories which purport to be accurate and truer than other forms of knowledge. No disputing that.

Measurability and measurements are the basis of the craft called "science", yes. And theories are hypotheses supported by experimental measurements. However the belief "truer than other forms of knowledge" isn't part of science but there are certainly scientists who have this belief as there are also scientists who believe in a "god".

No. This is wrong and a red herring. Almost every scientist thinks that their knowledge is truer than other human knowledge especially in their particular field. Science is premised on the view that it gets closer to the truth than other forms of human knowledge or what would the point in doing it?SteRo wrote: ↑Sun Sep 12, 2021 1:45 pmMeasurability and measurements are the basis of the craft called "science", yes. You are being completely unscientific. How can you assert things like "Almost every scientist thinks ..." that are inaccessible to public measurements. You are merely a believer and continually repeating your beliefs.Zenny wrote: ↑Sun Sep 12, 2021 1:51 pmNo. This is wrong and a red herring. Also, even science cannot measure "truth" because it's merely a metaphysical idea. Appearance does not need truth, it simply appears.

If truth is merely a metaphysical idea what does that make science?
You are aware that induction in science is not a measurement?
Is a bent stick in water or optical illusions the appearance you are talking about? Not everything evident is directly visual.
