Ajahn Sumedho moving back to England permanently?

Post by suriyopama »

There is this video of Ajahn Sumedho saying goodbye to the sangha at Wat Pa Ratanawan

It seems like he does not plan to return.

Does anyone has some information? If he is still at Wat Pa Ratanawan, I would like to pay him a visit

I have had two chances to attend a retreat with him and both times it got cancelled. Once by me, once by COVID. It would be nice if he did return.

Good luck! There is such a huge demand for Ajahn Sumedho's retreats that there is a lottery system to select participants. Unless, of course, you are on the "special list"!

I must be lucky, then  During mt my last retreat at Wat Pa Ratanawan, besides listening his teachings, I had quite direct interaction with him: accompanying him during morning pindabat with a bag to help collect the food, casual talks while driving the golf car to bring him to his room... I was pleasantly surprised when I saw him the first day, because I had no idea that he was residing there. Ajahn Nyanadhammo was in Australia these days.

I don't have any info beyond what's in the video and the text description that accompanies it. The latter states only that the ajahn will be leaving to spend the vassa in England. It doesn't speak of it as a permanent move.

Surely not in regard of the Venerable Theras own welfare, as importand conditions for own deliverance certain will be missed. But it's common to move back.

May Venerable always focus on what is best for him so that it turns out best for all.
It's good, and good when supported, to finalize ones own training first.

Thank you for the information.

Is it possible to know the departure date? I will have free time the last week of this month. I could visit him then, if he is still at Wat Pa Ratanawan
