Re: Pali Reader Named Tipitaka Pali Projector
Thanks! I'll give it a try.
BTW, I don't think fuzzy means what you are using it for. https://whatis.techtarget.com/definition/fuzzy-search
The fuzzy search on the DPR let you ignore diacritics, and if I'm not mistaken, also ignore the aspirated consonants. It may have even ignored double consonants. For example mettha and meta would all find mettā. That's why it's fuzzy, as opposed to hard edges I guess.
I wouldn't have thought fuzzy meant "in any part of the word". In fact all the searches I am familiar with, finding something in any part of the word would be the default behaviour and you would need to select "whole word" to change it. I do think that the nature of Pali makes it so that finding words that use the string as a prefix or suffix is helpful. So that's good.
In any case, there really needs to be some help right there on the spot. If you are interested I could try and write something up.
Ideally there should be an option for regex, but of course that's easier said than done!
Thanks for all your work.

Re: Pali Reader Named Tipitaka Pali Projector
Do you know how to program. we would love you on our team.
You can find my email on my website https://americanmonk.org and contact me.
This program taken over by a few other programmers and is much better than ever before.
You can see the original and all of the progress made under my direction by clicking here https://palitipitakaprojector.github.io/
A full rewrite will be done soon. Yes I was thinking of having fuzzy be changed, but we might save it for the rewrite in angular.
I don't know angular myself, but that is what I will need to learn to help out.
Here is the latest video on TPP. Be sure to subscribe.

Re: Pali Reader Named Tipitaka Pali Projector
Sadly, I only know how to complain about other people's programming.
I'm sorry if my words were not appropriate. I really do appreciate all the work that has been done, even though it's more than I can even imagine.
Thanks again! Maybe others here with coding skills can step forward.

Re: Pali Reader Named Tipitaka Pali Projector
No problem. The fuzzy letters feature will be added in a week or two. It was something I wanted to do. It is not difficult to do if we just add it to the word list that pops up when you type rather than the full search.
We also plan to add that to the dictionary edit box as you type.
We want to stabilize the non-Roman scripts for the exe and dmg files though.
After that, we will probably stop new features and work on the new Pali project.
Feel free to write issues on github for Bugs or things that are not intuitive.

Re: Pali Reader Named Tipitaka Pali Projector
The Git version now has fuzzy typing support for the dictionary and the search dlg. We also added a sentence button which allows for multi-word literal search (search for a sentence).
Re: Pali Reader Named Tipitaka Pali Projector
Can anyone verify that the autoupdate worked who downloaded the windows exe version from my webpage link?
Version 1.04 exe deb dmg are released. If you have downloaded 1.03 from the links on my webpage, it should autoinform you and autodownload when you give permission to do so.
However, I need to know if this really worked from real users.
Some of my close friends said it did not work, but I had also given them other links and versions to work with. Because of this I need to know from someone in the group here..
In any case 1.04 is now available.
It has fuzzy letter typing.
supports mulitple scripts
and has "my Notes" working
several ui changes to make cleaner.

Re: Pali Reader Named Tipitaka Pali Projector
1.05 is now available with deb support. We are now in the snapcraft.io store (for ubuntu snap). We will hopefully be in the Mac store within a few weeks.
Re: Pali Reader Named Tipitaka Pali Projector
Sadhu sadhu! This is a great service to the world.

Well, you should register.
I hope you don't have illegal software running on your computer.
However, the release links can be found on the project website

Re: Pali Reader Named Tipitaka Pali Projector
When I try it is not necessary to have an account. Here is the only dialog box that comes up: Now, it could be that long ago I signed in to the store with a MS account, but I don't think so. It would be good if you could try and give a report.Lucas Oliveira wrote: ↑Sun Oct 25, 2020 5:41 pm the microsoft store link, I have to register before ..

There are lots of reasons to not want to have a MS account that have nothing to do with using unauthorized Windows software.
I'm also happy to report that for me, searching for Pali in the MS store, it comes up on the first screen. And a search for Buddhism it comes up on the second. That's really great for a new app. Congrats!
