Guptaka/Gauptika

Post by Coëmgenu »

How would you say "guptaka" in Pāli? I can't imagine the Pāli accent, the way it sits in your mouth when you speak it, being able to abide the Sanskritic consonant cluster "pt." What does it become? Tt? Pp?
What is the Uncreated?
Sublime & free, what is that obscured Eternity?
It is the Undying, the Bright, the Isle.
It is an Ocean, a Secret: Reality.
Both life and oblivion, it is Nirvāṇa.

I found it, didn't think I would.

Guttaka, & Dhammaguttaka if the Pali tradition interacted with them.

Sanskritic -pt- always becomes -tt- in Pali

Guptaka can be Guttaka or Guttiya, e.g. Dhammaguttiya for Dharmaguptaka.

In whatever way they conceive it,
It turns out otherwise.
