visayaṭṭhānānurūpaṃ

Post by Ko Khanti »

Hello Dhamma Sisters and Brothers:

I am trying to translate the following technical term found in a modern commentary-visayaṭṭhānānurūpaṃ

I think it is something like "in conformity with (anurūpaṃ) the condition/cause (ṭhānā) of the context/sense object (visaya). It is being used in the context of explaining a word according to a creative etymology (nirutti, S. nirukti), but I am not sure I quite got the sense of the word. Does any one have any ideas or have you seen this technical term before?

Thanks
