Paññāyati and Paññatti

Post by Ceisiwr »

How is paññāyati related at all to paññatti? I know they both share the same root "paññā", which is "understanding"? Would it be correct to say that paññatti is a concept and paññāyati is knowing that concept?
“Knowing that this body is just like foam,
understanding it has the nature of a mirage,
cutting off Māra’s flower-tipped arrows,
one should go beyond the King of Death’s sight.”
