https://tipitaka.theravada.su is now an open source project!
I shared its source code at https://github.com/khantibalo/tipitaka

Initially, my goal was to make a web interface to Chattha Sanghayana Tipitaka, that is a most comprehensive collection of Pali texts.
Keeping all the texts in a database makes it possible to provide direct links to any passage in canon and commentaries as well as many other useful features.

The next goal was to create facilities we can use to make better translations of pali texts into Russian.
The result was a set of tools that were added to make it possible to align English and Russian translations sentence by sentence with pali sources and also add my own translations based on them.

The amount of texts we have aligned so far makes this project worth attention from English-speaking users as well.
The user interface is available both in Russian and English.

Programmers are welcome to fork the source code and send their pull requests.

Hello,

May I suggest that the now broken links be removed?
I haven't tried them all but the searchable Canon from Latrobe, the Bodhgayanews search engine, and tipitakastudies.net (in the second post on the first page) are down.

Thanks. I've put asterisks under all the dead links so that if anyone notifies me of updated links to the same resources I can add them.

"There is a book" new learners book(s) for pāḷi by J. R. Bhaddacak

Post by annada »

I have just seen this relatively new aid for learning pāḷi, you may be interested as well. The first volume is about how to say things in pāḷi and second is about how to read pāḷi texts.

"I write this book with a hope that it can be an easy starter to Pāli studies which I wish it had been my first book on Pāli language. The main theme of this book comes from a simple question: “What is the quickest way to learn a language?” It seems to me that the best answer is “by using it in conversation.” This is true for many living languages in the world, but not quite so in dead languages like Pāli."

"Beside people who support me with requisites, I have no one to thank, because I do all the things myself, from thinking to typesetting. Very few know what I do during the days. However, the book is far from perfect: translations need to be improved, errors needs to be fixed, typos need to be detected and corrected, missing materials need to be added, ideas have to be polished, etc. You all can help me by taking notes when you read the book, and send me back. You will be a part of this intellectual heritage."

I've attached the book but it is not visible. I am not sure what is wrong.

Thanks a lot ananda for this ressource. It sounds really interesting but I get an ’access denied’ message when I follow the links. Do I need to contact the author to get access?
Thanks!
