The Journey from Selwyn to Sally – A three-part article and interview from the Natal Witness, covering her life from early ANC activism up to her joining the Quakers after the then Cardinal Ratzinger had expelled her from the Dominican Order.
The life of Sally Gross challenges many of our preconceptions about who we are, especially in a society that accepts only two genders, male and female. Born Jewish and classified male at birth, Gross later became a Christian and a Dominican priest. But Sally Gross is not transsexual, she is intersexed. This is the first of three articles in which she tells her story.

This, the second of three articles, explores Sally Gross's search for an identity within the context of the Catholic priesthood which resulted in the 'biggest trauma' of her life.

https://isna.org/pdf/gross2.pdf
For Sally Gross, coming back to the country of her birth where she was still classified as male was no simple matter. This final article in a series of three looks at what happened.

Nonin Chowaney
(1941-2022)

From facebook:
Nonin was a Zen Buddhist priest. He was master teacher, gardener, poet and calligrapher. He was masterful at accessing vast intellectual and emotional reaches, and then letting them go. He was both austere and imposing, and deeply vulnerable and compassionate. Irascible one moment, and dancing joyfully in my living room the next. Life dealt him a series of blows that could have crushed him. But they didn’t. Simple things brought him great joy: walking his dog, jazz music, his family, the neighbor kids, good whiskey, babies, watching sports, and talking with friends over coffee.

He has a wikipedia page:
