The purpose of this thread is to share your home Altar with other members of the dhammawheel.com Sangha. As a new Buddhist, I am not sure if this is tasteful or not and if not please feel free to let me know and the thread will end there.
Otherwise, please post your home Altar setup.
Here is mine so far. Sorry for the poor photo quality.

There is always an official executioner. If you try to take his place, It is like trying to be a master carpenter and cutting wood. If you try to cut wood like a master carpenter, you will only hurt your hand.

Re: Post Your Home Altar
i have thrown together little altars from time to time inspired by día de los muertos and janussoni sutta
just a few food items, some buddha figurines, flowers, dhamma, and water (offering to ghosts)
i made this one soon after dylanj died; he sent me that copy of deliverance of the heart.

I host a sutta discussion via Zoom Sundays at 11AM Chicago time — message me if you are interested

I got this Buddha image from a Royal Temple in Thailand, Wat Rai King.
The Buddha image seated on a throne with Maravijaya posture. Everyday my family members will make Puja offerings such as incense, clean drinkable water, lamp, and have chanting session in front of the Buddha image every day and night.

Thanks for sharing. Your Buddha image is very good presentation indeed in your home altar for devotional practices, such as chanting.Ontheway wrote: ↑Mon Aug 30, 2021 5:50 pm I got this Buddha image from a Royal Temple in Thailand, Wat Rai King.

You mention "Puja offerings" for your home altar. Puja is certainly an essential ritual of Hinduism. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Puja_(Hinduism).

It is a common tradition in Indian religion (including Buddhism). It was considered as gifting ceremony, which usually done when meeting a holy person in the ancient India. To quote your Wikipedia link "to host and honour a guest"...thomaslaw wrote: ↑Tue Aug 31, 2021 8:31 amThanks for sharing. Inside...
What is that picture? And the octagon shape in the middle, remind me of some sort of fengshui thing.

I'm not a ritualistic person, so this is all I have. My mom bought me the statue, I didn't ask for it, she doesn't know anything about Buddhism, and is a shop-aholic.
My spouse put it under the lavender flowers.
There is only one battle that could be won, and that is the battle against the 3 poisons. Any other battle is a guaranteed loss because you're going to die either way.

If you click on the pic it should zoom. It's a buddha sitting on a platform supported by 4 elephants on a crocheted 8 sided thing
