Although, not a Theravada monk, being from Vietnam and as is typical with much of Vietnamese Buddhism, there is some overlap and mixing of traditions with Theravada.

He was an excellent writer and teacher, his books really helped me.
Do we know if he attained a particular level of enlightenment?

Im forever grateful to him for being my introduction to mindfulness practice and also my introduction to the Pali suttas.

Liberation is the inevitable fruit of the path and is bound to blossom forth when there is steady and persistent practice. The only requirements for reaching the final goal are two: to start and to continue. If these requirements are met there is no doubt the goal will be attained. This is the Dhamma, the undeviating law.

In three hours from now, Deer Park Monastery will livestream a memorial ceremony. Venerable Nhất Hạnh named the monastery after the location where the Buddha taught the āgamas according to traditional East Asian Buddhist sources.
What is the Uncreated?
Sublime & free, what is that obscured Eternity?
It is the Undying, the Bright, the Isle.
It is an Ocean, a Secret: Reality.
Both life and oblivion, it is Nirvāṇa.

Sad to hear.
“The teacher willed that this world appear to me
as impermanent, unstable, insubstantial.
Mind, let me leap into the victor’s teaching,
carry me over the great flood, so hard to pass.”

And what is right speech? Abstaining from lying, from divisive speech, from abusive speech, & from idle chatter: This is called right speech.

Perhaps he must have attained Nibbana or favorable rebirth.
