Compare The Chamberlains sutta SN 55.6 & SA 860

SA 860:

"... 我與同遊， 常護三事：一者御象，恐失正道。二自護 心，恐生染著。三自護持，恐其顛墜。世尊！我 於爾時，於王婇女，無一剎那不正思惟。」

0219a17佛 告長者：「善哉！善哉！能善護心。」

0219a18長者白佛：「我 在家中所有財物，常與世尊及諸比丘、比丘 尼、優婆塞、優婆夷、等共受用，不計我所。」

0219a20佛 告長者：「善哉！善哉！汝拘薩羅國錢財巨富， 無有與汝等者，而能於財，不計我所。」

0219a22爾 時，世尊為彼長者種種說法，示、教、照、喜，示、 教、照、喜已，從座而去。"

SA 860 only mentioned the lay disciple's generosity and the Buddha's affirmation of it; it
did not mention the four factors of the stream entry, esp. generosity as the last factor -- which is different from the majority of the suttas that list accomplished sila as the factor, not generosity.

I think the texts of the Samyutta/Samyukta collection do not say so.

According the mentioned book's section (10) Stream-entry, the Buddha in the sutras teaches all together “six qualities” (as merits, virtues, intrinsic worth):

- The basic four qualities (i.e. the three faiths, Buddha-Dhamma-Saṅgha, and ‘morality’ sīla)

- Deva-paths to the heavens (emphasising ‘non-malice’ abyāpajjha in connection with the basic four qualities), and

- ‘Charitable giving’ dāna
