Looking on with Equanimity

Post by Ceisiwr »

In SN 46.3 equanimity as part of the 7 awakening factors is defined as looking on at the concentrated or stilled mind of samādhi with equanimity.

“He closely looks on with equanimity at the mind thus concentrated. Whenever, bhikkhus, a bhikkhu closely looks on with equanimity at the mind thus concentrated, on that occasion the enlightenment factor of equanimity is aroused by the bhikkhu; on that occasion the bhikkhu develops the enlightenment factor of equanimity; on that occasion the enlightenment factor of equanimity comes to fulfilment by development in the bhikkhu."

Does anyone know if the parallels to this sutta say something similar, or different?
“Knowing that this body is just like foam,
understanding it has the nature of a mirage,
cutting off Māra’s flower-tipped arrows,
one should go beyond the King of Death’s sight.”

Could you provide the link to Sutta with Pali.
I found the following.

“As the lamp consumes oil, the path realises Nibbana”

That's it.

They closely watch over that mind immersed in samādhi.
So tathāsamāhitaṁ cittaṁ sādhukaṁ ajjhupekkhitā hoti.

At such a time, a mendicant has activated the awakening factor of equanimity; they develop it and perfect it.
Yasmiṁ samaye, bhikkhave, bhikkhu tathāsamāhitaṁ cittaṁ sādhukaṁ ajjhupekkhitā hoti, upekkhāsambojjhaṅgo tasmiṁ samaye bhikkhuno āraddho hoti; upekkhāsambojjhaṅgaṁ tasmiṁ samaye bhikkhu bhāveti; upekkhāsambojjhaṅgo tasmiṁ samaye bhikkhuno bhāvanāpāripūriṁ gacchati.
The above is the Sutta Central translation.
“As the lamp consumes oil, the path realises Nibbana”
